From the states biggest and deepest lakes to small waters accessable only by
hiking, from fly fishing to ice fishing, from trolling to still fishing, Northern
Michigan offers some outstanding family sport as well as opportunities for the
experienced, serious angler. Michigan's incredible networks of lakes and streams
contain nearly unlimited fishing potential and include thousands of miles of
navigable waterways.
Some of the species of fish to be caught here include Tiger Musky, Northern Pike,
Walleye, Perch, Salmon, Steelhead, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout,
Brook Trout, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Rock Bass, Crappie, Bluegill,
Catfish, Bullhead, and more. Now you can buy hunting and fishing licenses

Michigan offers 2 free fishing weekends per year. All fishing license fees will be waived
for these two weekends for residents and out of state visitors
on both inland and Great Lakes waters. The next scheduled free fishing weekend
is June 9 and 10, 2001. All regulations will still apply during these
weekends so be sure to check your Michigan Fishing Guide or find the most current
regulations at the DNR's Website.
